I fear I re strained my vocal cords…

I fear I re-strained my vocal cords today while laughing with my senior folks about the side effects of some medications.
Example:

  • Several antidepressants caused depression and anxiety.
  • Many medications caused Diarrhea AND Constipation.
  • Another could cause you to hear ringing, buzzing and voices. It also could cause Paranoia. (REALLY? If I was hearing voices I’m sure paranoia would follow.)
  • Several medications for constipation caused loss of bladder control.
  • However the one that had us rolling on the floor (and blushing) One medication could cause: “Prolonged erection of the penis” (yes, mentally we’re all 9 y/o) Same medication caused an “inability to have an erection” and could cause “abnormal ejaculations”. (I’m betting that could be followed by some paranoia, depression and anxiety!)

Keira REALLY I make 1 phone call every…

Keira! REALLY???
I make 1 phone call every day and the ONLY reason that person gets a phone call is because he’s Nearly Blind, Nearly Deaf and Nearly 80! – Anyone else would be required to text me.
ANYWAY! I’m making my nightly phone call and we’re chatting about the day when Keira starts singing “Put a Diaper on and Pee Pee in the Diaper. Gotta Put a Diaper on and Pee Pee in the Diaper. Ah no wipe.” As if it’s the top 40.
I say my good byes, hung up and turn around to see that Keira has gone into the bathroom, put on one of her night time pullups and Peed In It!!! It would have been easier to just pee in the toilet – the pullups are behind it!

From back in June A little about Keira…

From back in June.
A little about Keira.
I am told that In Home Support team members use clinical terms when referring to client behavior. The term used most when discussing Keira: “She’s messing with you.”
Comments I’ve heard repeatedly about Keira “That was Keira?!? That was legend at The Reach School, but I didn’t know it was Keira.”
Yup! 6 years old and already a legend!
Another great comment about Keira: “So for Keira we’ve collected consistently inconsistent data.”
She intentionally flusters professionals with Masters Degrees, not sure if I should be proud or horrified.
School meetings: “We’ve been working very hard with Keira on X, Y and Z, but she’s not making much progress.”
Me: She can do that on her own without help – she’s manipulating you.
OT: She doesn’t seem to have a lot of balance.
Me: Lady, she rides her scooter board like a skate board. She jumps the distance between the bed and the trampoline with her eyes closed – moving on!
Today Keira ran her entire IHS program on her own. When IHS staff got here it went more like this:
IHS Staff: Where is the horse?
Keira: There it is.
IHS: The horse is on the table. Where is the horse?
Keira: There it is!
Me: KEIRA DO IT RIGHT
Keira: The horse is on thhhhh There it is! (Giggle giggle.)

File this under Only Riley Tonight we were…

File this under: Only Riley
Tonight we were walking out of Taekwondo and Riley tells me her foot hurts. This is Riley, if something hurts she’s laying on the ground in hysterics. So I tell her I’ll look at it when we get home.
We get into the car and she takes off her shoe and said in a carefree voice “… and now it’s bleeding.”
Me: Bleeding?
Riley: Only a little bit in one spot.
Me: Put your finger on it until it stops and I’ll look at it when we get home.
At that point I was turning into traffic and it wasn’t gushing blood. Plus THIS IS RILEY! If Riley THINKS something is going to hurt she starts in with the drama and she wasn’t even whimpering.
We got home and I look at her foot AND IT’S BLUE!
She has a huge blue bump on her foot above her toes. No tears, no drama, nothing just “my foot hurts”.
So now I have questions like – What did you do?
Keep in mind I was there the entire time! I could see her every move. There were only 2 kids in tonight’s class and most of the time there were 2 instructors. She wasn’t hit, slapped, kicked or bunched and she didn’t do any of those things to anyone else. For most of the hour she practiced her forms! FORMS! You don’t touch another person or anything else when you’re doing forms.
Her response was something about slipping around the water cooler area.
I have no idea what she did. I’ve see the water cooler it doesn’t typically attack people. And even if I hadn’t been right there every second, there were only 2 kids with 2 instructors there tonight – someone would have noticed if the water cool had suddenly jumped up and whacked her.
Not to mention I know the instructors well enough that if the water cooler suddenly started going after the students they would have mentioned it. That’s just the kind of story you have to tell people!
Tomorrow I’m going to have her reenact whatever it was that she did to get a big blue bump on her foot – I’ll keep you posted.

It’s been a good day It started out…

It’s been a good day! It started out with getting Keira off to school, then taking Riley to get her birthday gift, and then back for an online meeting, then a call to unemployment about benefits, then Keira got off the bus and we were on our way to Speech. No time for lunch so I stopped at BK to get fries for the girls. I was running 20 minutes early ended up being 5 minutes late thanks to the BK drive thru. Anyway. After speech we went home and my MIL came over with Riley’s gift and I made plans for IHS to pick up Keira at TKD because it was Riley’s last practice before the board breaking demo at Barbra Bush. Met the new in home support lady for the first time at TKD. She and the manager who was training her were there to pick Keira up just about the time it started to downpour! Got home with Riley, IHS finished up late so we waited for them before I took the girls to the market to get dinner and groceries, made dinner, ate dinner. Made plans for Riley’s sleepover party which will be after the board breaking demo. Contacted a few people about sponsors, reviews, and other stuff. And NOW I’m going to get some ice cream and watch the season finale of Deadliest Catch. And that is a Good Day!
