File this under: Only Riley
Tonight we were walking out of Taekwondo and Riley tells me her foot hurts. This is Riley, if something hurts she’s laying on the ground in hysterics. So I tell her I’ll look at it when we get home.
We get into the car and she takes off her shoe and said in a carefree voice “… and now it’s bleeding.”
Me: Bleeding?
Riley: Only a little bit in one spot.
Me: Put your finger on it until it stops and I’ll look at it when we get home.
At that point I was turning into traffic and it wasn’t gushing blood. Plus THIS IS RILEY! If Riley THINKS something is going to hurt she starts in with the drama and she wasn’t even whimpering.
We got home and I look at her foot AND IT’S BLUE!
She has a huge blue bump on her foot above her toes. No tears, no drama, nothing just “my foot hurts”.
So now I have questions like – What did you do?
Keep in mind I was there the entire time! I could see her every move. There were only 2 kids in tonight’s class and most of the time there were 2 instructors. She wasn’t hit, slapped, kicked or bunched and she didn’t do any of those things to anyone else. For most of the hour she practiced her forms! FORMS! You don’t touch another person or anything else when you’re doing forms.
Her response was something about slipping around the water cooler area.
I have no idea what she did. I’ve see the water cooler it doesn’t typically attack people. And even if I hadn’t been right there every second, there were only 2 kids with 2 instructors there tonight – someone would have noticed if the water cool had suddenly jumped up and whacked her.
Not to mention I know the instructors well enough that if the water cooler suddenly started going after the students they would have mentioned it. That’s just the kind of story you have to tell people!
Tomorrow I’m going to have her reenact whatever it was that she did to get a big blue bump on her foot – I’ll keep you posted.
