Symptoms of a common cold usually appear about one to three days after exposure to a cold-causing virus. Signs and symptoms of a common cold may include:
* Runny or stuffy nose
* Itchy or sore throat
* Cough
* Congestion
* Slight body aches or a mild headache
* Sneezing
* Watery eyes
* Low-grade fever
* Mild fatigue
The discharge from your nose may become thicker and yellow or green in color as a common cold runs its course. What makes a cold different from other viral infections is that you generally won’t have a high fever. You’re also unlikely to experience significant fatigue from a common cold.
When to see a doctor
For adults — seek medical attention if you have:
* Fever of 103 F (39.4 C) or higher
* Fever accompanied by sweating, chills and a cough with colored phlegm
* Significantly swollen glands
* Severe sinus pain
For children — in general, children are sicker with a common cold than adults are and often develop complications, such as ear infections. Your child doesn’t need to see the doctor for a routine common cold. But seek medical attention right away if your child has any of the following signs or symptoms:
* Fever of 103 F (39.4 C) or higher in children age 2 or older
* Fever of 102 F (38.9 C) or higher in children ages 6 weeks to 2 years
* Fever of 100 F (37.8 C) in newborns up to 6 weeks
* Signs of dehydration, such as urinating less often than usual
* Not drinking adequate fluids
* Fever that lasts more than three days
* Vomiting or abdominal pain
* Unusual sleepiness
* Severe headache
* Stiff neck
* Difficulty breathing
* Persistent crying
* Ear pain
* Persistent cough
If symptoms in a child or an adult last longer than 10 days, call your doctor.

I love my girls I love to put…

I love my girls. I love to put a little something special in their lunch box, but I don’t want to load it down with junk. These little boxes are a great way to teach ‘moderation‘ and let them know you love them.
I created these little Hershey Kiss Boxes for my daughters lunch box. She loves them. Her friends are jealous. The other moms didn’t like me to begin with ….. they think it’s overkill.
The Hershey Kiss Boxes are printed on 4 X 6 index cards, cut out and …. well if you’re ambitious you can use tacky glue, but I’m usually printing these out within minutes of needing to leave for school so I used double sided scrapbooking tape.
The printouts have a resolution of 300, but can be printed on 4 X 6 cards as long as you set your printer up to do so. Just cut around the outside of the box. Fold all the black lines and stick them together.

I thought I would look up the true…

I thought I would look up the true meaning of “May Day” and write a nice little blog about it, but to be honest I got 2 paragraphs in and it was so boring I couldn’t tell you what I read.
There’s to much reading on the web. All information on the web should be written for men – just the facts – but I digress.
So in lieu of a nice long description of May Day which if you REALLY want to know you can Google it, I put together a little May Basket, so you may print, cut out, fill with treats and pretend you have some knowledge of a holiday we only celebrate so we may receive treats.
This template is rather easy.
Print it, of course.
Then cut out the edges.
Fold and glue the flap on the side to the other side and on the bottom – this craft doesn’t take a lot of brain power and for the most part can be done with safety scissors.
You are going to want to print it on card stock OR and this is my favorite – I shrink the thing down to large index card size and print it out on a large index card.
When it’s that small it will accommodate a few little treats and easily fit inside a lunchbox. All the other children will be jealous and the PTA moms will hate you – this is something I live for.
Mine is such a little word, but it’s filled with fun!

Cake in a mug is something that is fun to do with kids and even if you only “bake” once or twice a year, you are bound to have everything in your kitchen.
This is a recipe Irene emailed me , the winner of the Xpress Redi Set Go earlier this month.
I don’t think I need to go looking for a better recipe, this was probably the best chocolate cake I’ve ever tasted.
Cake In A Mug

  • 4 TBSP of Self Rising Flour (use plain flour and 1/4 tsp baking powder in place of-that’s what I did-who the hell has self rising flour in their pantry’s!?)
  • 2 TBSP Sugar
  • 2 TBSP cocoa powder
  • 1 egg
  • 3 TBSP milk
  • 3 TBSP butter (melted)
  • 1/2 tsp or so of vanilla
  • 2 TBSP chocolate chips I didn’t have chips so I grated 4 Hershey Kisses.

Melt the butter. (I‘m assuming you should do this first in the mug you‘re going to use.)
Place all ingredients in a large mug.
Mix well (I used a kitchen fork)
Place in microwave and cook for 3 minutes (keep an eye on it, all microwave ovens are not the same)
LET IT COOL. Sprinkle with powder sugar if desired.
[I used the Xpress Redi Set Go, mixing everything in a small bowl first.]
Do the same for the Xpress cooker. You can either mix everything in the mug or a small bowl. Heat the Xpress cooker, then pour everything in. Cook for about 4-5 minutes. Check after 4 to make sure the middle is cooked. I lined the Xpress cooker with tinfoil (something that is NOT recommended) so my cake cooked in 5 minutes.
Rather you use the microwave or the Xpress Redi Set Go – you get this cute little personal size chocolate cake – or if you have little girls, like I do, you get a cute little cake for 3 – perfect for tea parties.
