Some day Rachel F and I are going to write a comedy for TV about 2 women who work together. One, an actress who is a mess, but everyone loves – Americas Favorite Actress. And the other an anal retentive woman who is a producer forced to work with the actress, but won’t quit because she knows that this could lead to her big break. And since no one will work with the actress, she can’t afford to lose the one producer who is willing to work with her.
eDee is the OCD freak that I wish I was, will yell things at Rachel like ‘I know you have good qualities, but I never have time to find them because I’m always resisting the urge to hit you with some thing hard!’ (Or ‘hurl things at your head’)
eDee may be gifted organizer and practically perfect in every way, but she can be cold and off putting without realizing it. She has her little group of friends who she messages every moment of the day complaining about Rachel, but most of people around eDee are a bit scared of her and avoid her. eDee yells a lot. Mostly in the direction of Rachel.
It has to be a Netflix show so we can say Fuck a lot.
Season 1 episode 4 Rachel, in an attempt to make nice, with coffee in hand, gets into a car with who she thinks is eDee, but instead finds eDee’s disabled daughter and her medical aid. Now that Rachel is in the car in gridlock, she’s trapped in the hired car that takes the little girl and the aid to school every day. Rachel accidentally teaches the little nonverbal girl to say fuck on the way to school. Once the little girl gets going she won’t stop. eDee has been waiting, the little girls entire life, for her daughter’s first word and now it’s happened it’s not something that can be published to FaceBook. 45 minutes of the show will be Rachel, the little girl and the aid in the car, when in reality we find out later that the ride to school is only 5 blocks.
Rachel will say “I spent an entire 45 minutes in the car with your daughter.” eDee yells ‘the Ride is Only 5 Blocks! 6 minutes tops.’ Rachel makes a comment that the child should walk to school if it’s only 5 blocks.
But the reason for the hired car is because of the little girls sensory issues – which Rachel fails to notice.
By the end of season 6, Rachel has gone through a man an episode (all 6 seasons), has been engaged twice, had 4 pregnancy scares, is staring in a soap, has starred in 3 major motion pictures, some how managed to land an anchor job for cable news, accidentally burned down her apartment building, lived with eDee for several months, taught the little autistic girl no fewer than 12 cuss words, does a Discovery special backpacking through the rain forest and somehow, in all that time, eDee manages not to kill her.
By the end of season 7, as eDee leaves for a new job and Rachel retires from acting in order to peruse some absurd new life style, the pair realize that they have become friends and the series finale is heartfelt and tear jerking.
