Before I can understand the “Fundamentals” I have…

Before I can understand the “Fundamentals” I have to know the “Practical Application” In other words, I have to know how to do it, before I can understand why I would do it.
Take CSS. I’m watching a lecture on the Fundamentals of CSS, which most people would need before actually learning CSS. Not Me! I can only follow the lecture on the Fundamentals because I’ve already learned to apply it.

Took the girls to family swim tonight – WOW Fun was had by all.
Riley grabbed some bubbles and went right in like she owned the place – even swam without the bubbles for daddy before we left. Such a big girl, walked into to the women’s changing room all by herself to come find Keira and I as we were getting ready to leave.
Keira has no fear – luckily she had bubbles on, because she got half way down the ramp and jumped in!
Another time, Tim sat her on the side to rest and she jumped in and went completely under – and showed no signs of slowing down.
She gives you a look as if to say “Just give me a second to stop choking and I’ll be ready to go again”
But when she was ready to leave, she was ready! and she’s been fussy ever since. She wants to go to bed, we’ve put her there 3 times and she keeps getting up cranky – course she was up all night last night – so Over the Top Tired.

Keira pulled me into her room saying …

Keira pulled me into her room saying “sleep” she wanted snuggle and tickle time. Then, when she was done with that she asked to color. When i said “Keira, do you want to color?” she said yes then went and cleared off the table!!! while i hunted down the paper and crayons. i was so surprised when i walked into the kitchen to find that she was already to color.

Whenever Keira is on School Vacation we learn new things about her, things we don’t always see on the weekend or before and after school.
New thing #1. Keira now laughs at what we say. Funny songs and dancing will make her laugh. For example singing “Keira, Keira Cocoa Milk. Keira, Keira Cocoa Milk.” Made chocolate rice milk come flying out her nose!

These fireflies are super easy to make. Just pop a flameless LED tealight into a plastic Easter egg. You don’t even need glue! Poke holes through the egg with a thumbtack to insert the pipe cleaners. The eyes are drawn onto white sticky labels, and the wings are silver duct tape. Quick, easy, and totally cute!

Dalai Lama
If we can manage to refrain from harming others in our everyday actions and words, we can start to give more serious attention to actively doing good, and this can be a source of great joy and inner confidence. We can benefit others through our actions by being warm and generous toward them, by being charitable, and by helping those in need. ~Dalai Lama

This is a super easy DIY for multiple occasions! Just break open some glow sticks, dump them into an empty jar, close with a lid, and shake them up!

This is great to use:

  • for your kids’ sleepovers: use them as night lights and save on the electric bill, or use them as a safer option to lamps that tend to get hot throughout the night. the kids will be fascinated by your creativity!
  • for the outdoor get-to-gether: string many of them up or scatter them throughout tables and use them as colorful lanterns to create an intimate and special mood during the night. you can also use a black sharpie and draw on fireflies or other little pictures so they stand out against the glow!
  • for the “grown up” party: instead of mason jars, try empty liquor bottles! Use a lot of different colored glow sticks and you can have your own mini rage party inside your house.
  • for the romantic indoor date: if you want to be romantic but think lighting up 50 candles in your house will probably cause a fire, take the safer route and cover the room with interesting looking vases and jars. keep that romantic mood by using only white glow sticks so they give off the candle-lit vibe.

This is interesting 1 Whenever someone is angry…

This is interesting.
1. Whenever someone is angry and confrontational, stand next to them instead of in front of them. You won’t appear as so much of a threat, and they eventually calm down.
2. Open with “I need your help.” People don’t like the guilt of not helping someone out. When asking for a favor from someone, begin your request by saying “I need your help.” It greatly increases your chances of getting that favor done.
3. Rephrase what the other person says and repeat it back to them. This makes them think you’re listening and really interested in what they’re saying. It makes them feel validated. Obviously, you don’t want to overdo this.
4. If you want someone to agree with you, nod while you talk. This gets the other person to nod too, and they begin to subconsciously think they agree with you.
5. If someone doesn’t like you, ask to borrow a pencil. It is a small enough favor that they won’t say no, and it gets them to like you more. Check out the Benjamin Franklin effect for more explanation.
6. Fold your arms to determine interest. If someone is observing you, they will likely mimic you. Fold your arms, and see if they do it, too.
7. Repeat a person’s name many times during a conversation. It helps you remember it, and makes them like you more.

Today we bid farewell to the Very Last Sippy Cup!
Saved only for emergencies – used to mix (shake) gluten/dairy free chocolate syrup and rice dreams – to create fake chocolate milk …… but I digress.
Good bye last sippy – we have only big kids now (Thank the Good Lord!)
(Side Note: it was purple!)

This ‘Update Break’ is being brought to you…

This ‘Update Break’ is being brought to you by a Coding Overload and the need for fresh baked cookies by 3:30pm to avoid the wrath of Keira.
In the news: Yesterday during Circle, Keira was kicked in the jaw by a class mate. Teacher reports that, quote ”Keira seemed completely unfazed by the event.” end quote.
In other news: Riley announces she hates school and stated this morning that she is looking into other alternatives.
Riley also stated that she is already smart, because “’s.m.a.r.t’ is in my ‘j.e.a.n.s’.” Once again providing evidence that she can spell, but further education is required.
Stay tuned to this profile for the Word Report.
Headlining: “Unphased” v. “Unfazed”
We now return you to your regularly scheduled life.
Comment: “Unphased” is a word – it means unsynchronized.
“Unfazed” is also a word – “Faze” means to confuse or disrupt. People often say a person is unfazed by something – meaning calm, not upset, not taken by surprise, not confused.

Customer Service: May I ask why you want to downgrade your service?
Me: Because for $9 a month I can watch streaming real time pirated versions of my favorite shows online with better video and sound quality.
Long Pause
Customer Service: I have no argument for that.
Me: Also, I unplugged the cable on Sunday to clean and no one has noticed – it’s Thursday!
